I will discuss the research and study which sought to understand the impact of coaching on Leaders as they transition into a new role. This study qualitatively explored leaders perspectives from both the private and public sectors. The 4 themes identified will be discussed (Time to Think, Clarity & Focus, Develop Capability and Engagement). The findings suggest that Coaching creates a unique dynamic that brings multiple positive experiences. These include opportunity to consider perspectives, view options, consider opportunities and sustain focus and resilience as the Leader makes the transition into a new role. Coaching can have a strategic impact and the session will be a learning opportunity to gain from Leader’s perseptives.


Mary Devine has a background as a HR Leader and HR Consultant, Coach, and Mentor with over 20 years’ experience delivering large scale projects and training across the utilities sector. She is an accredited fellow of CIPD, member of EMCC, and associate member of PSI. She has advanced skills in coaching and mentoring for individuals and teams across a wide range of industries.
